Begura Eria - SunCulture

Begura Eria, a 52-year-old livestock farmer from Bisheshe, Lugusulu in Sembabule District, Uganda, exemplifies agricultural resilience. The district is renowned for its diverse agricultural activities, including the cultivation of cassava, sweet potatoes, maize, and millet, alongside extensive cattle herding and ranching. Mr. Eria’s farm, which houses over 200 cattle, highlights his commitment to sustainable farming practices.

Despite his dedication, Eria faced significant challenges before integrating SunCulture’s solar water pump. He had to manually fetch water from distant valleys, a task that was both time-consuming and costly. Previous attempts to use valley dams and piped water were unsuccessful due to the unreliability of water sources and impracticality for livestock needs.

The introduction of SunCulture’s innovative solar water pump system revolutionized Eria’s farming operations. Now, with a simple push of a button, his water troughs are consistently replenished, ensuring a reliable water supply for his Fresian cattle. This has led to a notable increase in milk production. Additionally, the pump’s versatility allows Eria to undertake other water-intensive projects, such as constructing additional housing, with greater ease and cost-effectiveness.

Grateful for the significant impact on his farm and household, Eria credits his success to SunCulture’s affordable and dependable solar water pump system. This partnership has enabled him to overcome the challenges posed by his hilly terrain, ensuring a prosperous future for his farm and family
